This three-day Ndutu safari takes you to the heart of the Southern Serengeti, one of the world's most renowned wildlife destinations. Your guide will pick you up in the morning at your hotel in Arusha or at the airport if you are coming from Zanzibar. You will then travel directly to Ndutu, where the Great Migration gathers during calving season. Spend two unforgettable days exploring the vast plains teeming with wildebeest, roaming predators, and breathtaking scenery. Your adventure concludes with a spectacular trek through the Ngorongoro Crater.

DAY 1: SOUTH SERENGETI (NDUTU REGION)
At your hotel in Arusha or, if you are coming from Zanzibar, upon arrival at Arusha airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari guide and given a briefing on the journey ahead. From here, your adventure begins directly to the iconic Ndutu Plains in the Southern Serengeti, the heart of the Great Migration during calving season.
Enjoy a scenic drive through the Ngorongoro Highlands and the vast Ndutu Plains. Upon arrival in the protected area, your game drive begins immediately. Explore the open plains teeming with wildlife: vast herds of wildebeest and zebra, cheetahs scanning the horizon, prides of lions resting under acacia trees, and countless bird species.
You will arrive at your lodge late in the afternoon, settle in, and enjoy the tranquility of the wilderness as the sun sets over the Ndutu landscape.

DAY 2: NDUTU
Spend the day exploring the forests and plains of Ndutu, a favorite habitat for big cats due to its abundance of prey. From late January to early March, this area teems with wild animals giving birth. The fresh green grass provides vital nutrients for the pregnant animals and their young. You'll have the chance to witness thrilling interactions between predators and prey, elephants grazing in acacia woodlands, and migrating herds stretching as far as the eye can see. This is the best time to see the circle of life in action.

Return to your lodge in the evening for a relaxing dinner under the stars

DAY 3: NDUTU → NGORONGORO CRATER TOUR → ARUSHA

Descend 600 meters to the crater floor, where you can enjoy a half-day game drive surrounded by breathtaking scenery and a large wildlife population.
Explore the crater's diverse habitats, from open grasslands to the hippo pool and Lerai forest, while searching for lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, hyenas, and the rare black rhino.
In the afternoon, ascend to the crater rim and continue your journey back to your hotel in Arusha or the airport, depending on your flight schedule.

What is so special about calving season?

The Ndutu Plain is the most extraordinary nursery on Earth. More than 500,000 wildebeest calves and countless zebra foals are born during calving season.

Predators follow the herds, which is why it is also a time of vulnerability.
In contrast to the busy river crossings in the north of the Serengeti, calving season offers a more intimate safari experience. Vast green plains dotted with wildflowers form a breathtaking backdrop, and the abundance of wildlife ensures that every game drive is full of encounters.

Our guests experience this season as an emotional connection to the circle of life.

The months to experience calving season are January through March.
