Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park
After a delicious breakfast, we drive to Lake Manyara National Park and spend the day game viewing, with a packed picnic lunch in the afternoon. The park's wildlife includes a large number of elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, waterbucks, and warthogs. There's a healthy population of lions, known for their tree-climbing prowess, as well as a very large number of baboons that can live in large groups of up to 200 animals. Behind the stunning landscape of the Great Rift Valley escarpment to the west, Lake Manyara attracts many flamingos.
Accommodation: Heart and soul lodge
Day 4: Serengeti / Ndutu
This morning we rise early and have breakfast before embarking on the drive to the Serengeti plains and the southern sector. This is the time of year when the herds are found here (January through March).
A packed lunch will be provided at midday and you will arrive at the lodge in the late afternoon, which boasts a fantastic location. You'll never be far from the many birds and mammals that call the Ndutu area home.
Accommodation: Safari heaven seasonal tented camp
Day 5and 6: Ndutu
You'll have two full days to enjoy magnificent game viewing and, with a bit of luck, witness the spectacle of life as hundreds of wildebeest calves are born. Predators like lions and hyenas are constantly on the hunt for calves, and thousands upon thousands of calves are born within a few weeks of each other – for true nature lovers, this is something they'll never forget!
In the late afternoon, you'll drive back to your lodge, where you can relax by the campfire and watch the sunset and the moon rise above the acacia trees.
Accommodation: Safari heaven seasonal tented camp
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, we drive to Olduvai Gorge. Olduvai Gorge, also known as the Olduvai Gap, is a gorge in the Great Rift Valley in Tanzania. The gorge is located within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Olduvai Gorge is a site that contains the earliest evidence of human ancestors. Paleoanthropologists have discovered hundreds of fossil bones and stone tools in the area, dating back millions of years, leading them to conclude that humans evolved in Africa and how we became the dominant species on Earth.
There's a museum on the edge of the gorge where visitors can learn about fossil excavation and view exhibitions of finds from the gorge and surrounding area. It's always impressive to walk through the landscape where our ancestors from millions of years ago also roamed. An artist's impression of the moment this ancestor was likely caught in a volcanic eruption (which allowed her footprints to be so beautifully preserved) transports you back in time.
Guided tours are also available in the gorge where visitors can learn about the archaeology and geology of the area, and it's possible to explore the surrounding nature and spot wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, and hyenas. Ultimately, you're still more or less in the Serengeti.
Accommodation: Ngorongoro safari lodge
Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, we go into the Ngorongoro Crater. The drive takes you through lush highland forest, where you can spot beautiful birds among the various tree species. Once on the grassy crater floor, you might spot a wide variety of grazing herbivores, as well as the predators attracted by this abundant prey. Depending on the time of year, you might see huge flocks of pink flamingos around the shores of shallow Lake Magadi, while the surrounding swamp is inhabited by hippos. Spend a few hours spotting wildlife and stop at a picnic site along the way to enjoy your lunch.
Late in the afternoon, you will be transferred to your accommodation in Arusha where you can reflect on these wonderful days.

Experience the heart of the wild: a unique spectacle
Our 9-day calving season safari stands out from all others by placing you at the epicentre of one of nature's greatest events. From late January to early March, the Ndutu region transforms into a nursery for over half a million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles. Driven by instinct, these herds migrate south to feast on the sweet, nutrient-rich grasses, providing ideal conditions for their young. Witnessing thousands of newborn wildebeest taking their first steps is a truly humbling and exhilarating experience.

Predator paradise: a thrilling chase
The abundance of vulnerable newborns during the calving season attracts a significant number of predators, turning the plains into a dynamic hunting ground. This is a prime opportunity to observe female lions, cheetahs, and leopards in action as they hunt for their hungry cubs. The cycle of life unfolds before your eyes, offering incredible photographic moments and a raw, authentic safari experience. This thrilling aspect makes our 9-day safari an unparalleled adventure for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike.
